AER ARANN Since launching its first commercial flight in 1970, it has provided a reliable, value for money air service to the thousand of islanders of Inis Mor, the largest of the Arann Islands in Galway Bay, off the west coast of Ireland. In 1994, Aer Arann, ownership changed when Padraig O’Ceidigh took over and expanded its network, establishing links to all the major cities throughout Ireland. In the late 1990s the company grew again, launching new rotations to the UK. Today Aer Arann is Ireland’s largest regional carrier; it operates 600 rotations per week, across 40 routes within Ireland, to the UK and northern France.
Aer Arann is the first Irish carrier to officially operate from London /Southend Airport. Two daily return flights operate from Galway and Waterford.
AER LINGUS Aer Lingus is an Irish low-cost, low-fares airline with high quality service, providing both long-haul and short-haul passenger transportation services and cargo services. The airline operates to over one hundred destinations throughout the UK and Europe, from its bases at Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Belfast and London Gatwick Airports. It operates to four gateways in the US including New York-JFK, Boston, Chicago and Orlando.
AEROFLOT Russian National carrier Aeroflot has announced plans to launch nine new routes for summer 2012. The airline will operate to destinations including Alicante, Bologna, Krakow and Stuttgart using its expanding fleet of Airbus A320s and Sukhoi Superjet 100s.
AEROSVIT AIRLINES
Ukrainian carrier Aerosvit Airlines will launch flights between Kiev and London this winter offering a daily service using Boeing 737-400 aircraft which will night stop at London-Gatwick.
The Ukrainian Carrier has agreed to purchase six former Royal Brunei Airlines Boeing 767-300ERs as it embarks on a major fleet and network renewal. The first of these was due for delivery in December 2010 with the remaining five following during the first half of 2011.
AFRICA AIRWAYS is a new West-African carrier based in Benin. It has leased a Boeing 737-200 from Air Quarius of South Africa to start services from Cotonou to Cameroon, Gabon and Niger.
AIR ARABIA Has taken delivery of its first of 44 new Airbus A320s that it has on order, becoming the newest operator and customer of directly purchased Airbus aircraft. All of its current fleet are leased. The carrier has three main hubs, Sharjah in the UAE, Casablanca in Morocco and Alexandria in Egypt and serves a network of 65 international routes from Europe to the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, Central Asia and North Africa.
AIR ASIA X Asia’s leading long-haul low-cost carrier, has celebrated the first anniversary of the launching of direct flights between London/Stansted and Kuala Lumpur. According to the airline, it has carried more than 221,000 passengers on the route.
On July 22 Air Asia announced that their service to Kuala Lumpur will relocate to London-Gatwick from October 24. The new base for the airline is set to further increase passenger traffic from London to South East Asia with six weekly rotations by mid-December.
Air Asia X will start services to its second Japanese destination from 30November, operating 4 non-stops weekly between Kuala Lumpur and Osaka-Kansai. The flights will use Airbus A330-300s configured with 12 Premium Fly flatbeds and 365 Economy seats.
AIR ASTANA Air Astana has an all western fleet consisting of 4 B757s, 2 B767s, 10 A320 family and 6 Fokker 50 aircraft. It is due to take delivery of 3 leased Embraer E190s it has on order in early 2011 to operate the expanding Central Asian network. The airline has added a 4th weekly rotation between Almaty and Bangkok along with Kuala Lumpur too.
Air Astana has been awarded second place in the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2011 “Best Airline In Eastern Europe” category.
AIR BALTIC The Latvian carrier continues its dramatic network expansion adding new flights from Riga to Amman, Beirut, Madrid and Visby and from Stockholm to Oulu and Tallinn. The airline has added 29 new routes since last summer and serves 80 destinations from its Riga base.
Air Baltic is to expand its network in the Gulf region with the launch of a three-time weekly connection to Tehran, Iran from its Riga base. Services will begin 08June and will add to existing connections to Amman, Jordan; Beirut, Lebanon; Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Tel Aviv, Israel.
Latvian Carrier Air Baltic will begin a four times weekly service from Riga to the Hungarian capital Budapest in May. The route will be operated by a 76-seat Bombardier Dash 8-Q400.
Increased services are to operate from Riga to Lappeenranta and Vaasa, the latter of which will extend onto the Swedish city of Umea. The airline also plans to start a 4 times weekly Fokker 50 Riga-Gdansk service on 18April2011 and twice weekly Oulu-Tromso Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 service on 29April2011.
AIR BERLIN German LCC Air Berlin has increased its presence in the US market with the launch of a new route from Miami to Berlin and the start of codeshare flights with Oneworld member American Airlines (AA) as of November 2010. It will use Airbus A330-200 with 276 seats in Economy class and 24 in Business class.
Air Berlin is the latest airline to fly into London-Gatwick from both Hanover and Nuremberg. The carrier is the second European low-cost airline in recent years to choose Gatwick as its London base; Norwegian being the first in mid 2009. The main reason being the fast public transport links into the heart of London.
7,000th AIRBUS MILESTONE Airbus has delivered its 7,000th aircraft, an A321 to US Airways.
AIR FRANCE Has officially touched down as the first airline to operate the World’s largest passenger aircraft to the African Continent.
Spurred on by competition from Low Cost carriers, Air France has announced plans to introduce a full-service low cost operation from a number of regional bases. The move will see the French carrier deploy Airbus A320s to its first regional base at Marseilles/Provence in October, with Toulouse, Bordeaux and Nice following in spring 2012.
AIR NAMIBIA With a planned purchase of three Embraer ERJ 135s, Air Namibia will be an all-jet airline. The first aircraft has already arrived and began services on routes to and from Windhoek, Maun and Victoria Falls as well as on domestic sectors. The 37 seater aircraft replaces 19 seat Beech 1900s.

AIRPHILL EXPRESS The low-fare affiliate of Philippines Airlines (PAL) has recently started operating the Airbus A320 on its domestic route network. A total of six 177 seat single class A320s will join the Airphil Express fleet this year.
AIR TRAN Air Tran Airways, was a subsidiary of Air Tran Holdings, but has now been taken over by Southwest. The deal combines the world’s largest low-cost carrier with the largest LCC in North America.

AIR TRANSAT One of the biggest Canadian-Charter-Flight operators in Canada is Air Transat, a subsidiary of Transat A.T. Inc, the tour operator, which flies to the Caribbean/US during the winter months, and to popular destinations in Europe during the summer (London, UK, for example).
Air Transat is Canada’s leading holiday travel airline. It carries some 3 million passengers annually to nearly 60 destinations in 25 countries. Air Transat has a fleet of 18 Airbus A330s and A310s. The company employs approximately 2,000 people.
ALASKA AIRLINES Alaska Airlines mainly serves some 40 cities in Alaska, other western states and western Canada; Alaska Airlines also flies to select major cities elsewhere in the US and about 10 cities in Mexico. Alaska has a fleet of some 110 jets operating from hubs in Anchorage, Alaska, Portland, Oregon, Los Angeles and Seattle.
The Regional carrier Horizon is to lose its name on aircraft and all Dash 8-Q400s are to be repainted in Alaska colours with the famous Eskimo on the tail.
ANADOLUJET Turkish Airlines (THY) has transferred all of its flights at Sabiha Gokcen Airport to its low cost subsidiary Anadolujet, which operates both Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 models in a single class configuration.
The low-cost brand started three times weekly flights between Ankara and London-Stansted on 28th January using 149 seat Boeing 737-700s.
ARIK AIR West Africa’s largest carrier, Arik Air is continuing to expand existing services by adding three new destinations o its Lagos-Dakar route with intermediate stops in Cotonou (Benin), Ouagadougou (Burkina-Faso) and Bamako (Mali). The new service, called the “Savannah Express” was started in December 2011.
Arik Air has just taken delivery of a two-class Airbus A330-300 (24 Business Class and 269 Economy Class), which will be used on the five times weekly Abuja-London/Heathrow route.
ASIANA AIRLINES Has become the latest customer for the Airbus A380 following signature of a firm order for six of the aircraft. Asiana, South Korea’s second largest carrier, will take delivery of its first A380 in April 2014; a second will also be delivered later that year, two more in 2015 and the remaining pair in 2017.
AURIGNY AIR SERVICE Formed in the Channel Islands in 1968 started flights linking the Channel Islands. In 1971 it started using the Trislander aircraft and extended its route structure to include the south coast of England and Northern France. With the larger ATR’s, it connects the Channel Islands now with London (Gatwick and Stansted), Manchester and Bristol.

AUSTRAL LINEAS AEREAS Argentine Carrier Austral welcomes its first Embraer’s into service. The airline ordered 20 E-jets in May 2009, configured with 96 seats in a dual class layout – 8 Executive and 88 Economy seats.
BA CITY FLYER Formerly known as BA Connect and British Airways CitiExpress, BA CityFlyer links London City Airport with UK and European destinations, with Avro RJs. The carrier has now received 5 of 6 Embraer 170s and will get its 5 E190s this year. The longer range aircraft will enable it to extend its route structure to include Mediterranean destinations.
All aircraft are operated on a franchise agreement with British Airways using BA-flight numbers.
BAHRAIN AIR New services started to Bangladesh on 16March. 4 times weekly to Chittagong and 3 times weekly to Dhaka using Airbus A320s.
BEARSKIN AIRLINES
Bearskin Lake Air Services Ltd., trading as Bearskin Airlines, is a regional airline based in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, Canada. It operates services in northern Ontario and Manitoba. Its main bases are Sioux Lookout Airport (YXL) and Thunder Bay International Airport (YQT), with a hub at Greater Sudbury Airport (YSB).
Bearskin Airlines has acquired a Saab 340 which is in operation by its sister company Calm Air.
BELLE AIR Belle Air was born in May 2005 in Tirana, Albania; and from the 1st of March it launched flights in connection between Albania and Italy, as the first Albanian low-cost airline company.
BLUE AIR is a low-cost airline based in Bucharest, Romania. It started operations in December 2004 and operates services to European destinations. Its main base is Bucharest Baneasa. The airline recently focused also on other Romanian airports, such as Arad, Cluj-Napoca, Bacau and Sibiu.
Blue Air has expanded its operations to the UK. The budget carrier now offers additional connections to London Luton airport including daily flights to Bucharest, four weekly to Sibiu and three weekly flights to Bacau.
BLUE ISLANDS Started in 1999 as Le Cocq Airlink. With the addition of a Brittan Norman BN-2A Trislander aircraft schedule service started up flying to northern France and the south coast of England. Several name changes brought the company to its present name in 2006 after the addition of BAe Jetstream aircraft late in 2005.
Blue Islands has started services twice-daily between jersey and London City.
BLUE NILE AIRLINES is a new Sudanese carrier and has been established to fly from Khartoum to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and East African destinations. Its aircraft will be leased from Bahrain Air.
BLUE 1 The Finnish carrier has taken delivery of its first Boeing 717-200 as it begins to replace its current fleet of McDonnell Douglas MD-90s with up to 14 of the type. The carrier inaugurated flights to Brussels and Berlin in March 2010 and will add a link to Munich in November 2010 when also frequencies to Zurich will double.
Competition on one of the world’s shortest international commercial routes has begun as they started operations between Helsinki and Tallinn. Flights on the 62 mile/100km route across the Gulf of Finland.
BMI BMI has altered its trading name to British Midland International (bmi). The carrier has unveiled a new logo and visual identity to help strengthen its brand.
It undertook a strategic review of its brand when it became part of the Lufthansa family in 2009
BMI’s global reach is further extended by being a member of Star Alliance, a grouping of 20 international airlines offering customers a worldwide network and a smooth integrated travel experience.
BMIBABY is to expand its network from its East Midlands base by introducing two additional links to Germany this autumn to Munich in September and Cologne/Bonn in October2010.
To its 2012 schedule seven new routes are to be added. It has unveiled flights from East Midlands to Gibraltar, Corfu, Murcia and Naples and from Birmingham to Lisbon, Rome and Barcelona.
7,000th BOEING MILESTONE Boeing has delivered its 7,000th 737 to come off the production line to Dubai-based FlyDubai. It is the low-cost carriers 14th Next-generation 737-800 with the new Boeing Sky Interior.

BVI AIRWAYS Tortola based BVI Airways have announced that final preparations have been completed and that online ticket sale have begun via its website www.gobvi.com.
CAMAIR-CO Cameroons new carrier, Camair-Co began operations in Late March with an inaugural flight from its base in Doula via the capital of Yaoundé to Paris/Charles de Gaulle using a Boeing 767-300ER the African airline operates under he IATA code QC and succeeds the defunct Cameroon Airlines.
CARIBBEAN AIRLINES After months of negotiations, Caribbean Airlines has taken control of financially troubled Air Jamaica. An agreement was reached late April which over the coming months will see Air Jamaica gradually being closed down. Government Officials confirmed routes from Kingston and Montego Bay to main US gateways, such as Fort Lauderdale, New York and Philadelphia will be retained by Caribbean Airlines.

CEBU PACIFIC AIR Cebu Pacific has become the Philippines largest airline based on domestic and international traffic. According to the Civic Aeronautics Board, it flew 2.45 million passengers in the first quarter. Cebu Pacific expects to sustain this growth over the next few years by expanding its capacity and plans to take delivery of 22 Airbus A320a.
CHINA AIRLINES Taiwan’s leading carrier flew its first non-stop passenger service from Taipei to London on March 29, 2010. The Airbus A340-313 was met by a traditional water cannon salute by the Heathrow Flight Services and passengers received an official welcome from BAA management.
This is the first time the two nations have been connected by non-stop services and the thrice weekly flights depart London, Heathrow on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
CHINA SOUTHERN China Southern Airlines was established on 1 July 1988 following the restructuring of the Civil Aviation Administration of China. Since then, the airline acquired and merged with a number of domestic airlines, becoming one of China's "Big Three" airlines (alongside Air China and China Eastern Airlines). China Southern Airlines is a member of SkyTeam. In 2010, China Southern Airlines carried 76.5 million domestic and international passengers with an average load factor of 79.2%.

CITYJET (DUBLIN) Established in Dublin in 1993, Cityjet started its first scheduled service in January 1994 on the Dublin to London City route. It formed an alliance with Air France in 1996 operating flights between Paris/Charles de Gaulle and London City under contract. In 2000 Air France –KLM acquired Cityjet and this marked an expansion period for the carrier as it introduced new routes across Europe from its Paris hub.
In 2007, Cityjet undertook a major expansion of its London City network opening up eight additional routes. VLM Airlines, which itself was formed in 1992, was flying similar services into London City from its Antwerp base, before it too was acquired by Air France-KLM in December 2007. Some 12 months later it began to combine flights with Cityjet. In 2009 both companies unveiled a new integrated commercial operation with the Cityjet brand being adopted across both airlines from May 2009.
COMAIR British Airways operated by Comair is a premium, full service airline operating routes in Southern Africa that include Cape Town, Durban, Livingstone, Mauritius, Victoria Falls and Windhoek.
Comair has announced an order for 8 Next-Generation Boeing 737-800s complete with Sky interior. The company will use the aircraft to update the fleet of its low-fare airline Kulula.
CONDOR German Carrier Condor has selected the Airbus A320 Family to be the long term backbone of its fleet and is currently negotiating a deal with the European Manufacturer for up to 30 aircraft. These will replace its existing A320 models and Boeing 757-300s between 2012 and 2017, standardizing its activities around a single aircraft family.

COPA AIRLINES Copa Airlines is an airline based in Panama City, Panama, and serves as Panama's flag carrier. Its main base of operations is Tocumen International Airport, and the airline operates approximately 180 daily scheduled flights to 55 destinations in 27 countries in North America, Central America, South America and The Caribbean.
DJIBOUTI AIR Has launched a six-times-weekly Djibouti to Dubai service using a leased Boeing 737. The carrier is also planning to launch flights to Ethiopia, Somalia, Yemen and Kenya.
DONBASS AERO Has taken delivery of an Airbus A321-321.
EASTERN AIRWAYS Based at Humberside Airport, Eastern Airways operates a fleet of turboprop BAe Jetstream and Saab 2000s. Many of the flights are in support of the North Sea oil and gas industry and it links airports on the east coast of the United Kingdom such as Aberdeen, Newcastle, Norwich, Durham and London Stansted, plus Norwegian destinations such as Bergen, Stavanger and Oslo.
The Regional carrier has reached an agreement in principle to acquire Air Southwest.
EASYJET
A daily Aberdeen-Gatwick service will start on June 3. The airline advises they have now passed the 50 million passengers a year mark. Today it is one of the largest airlines in Europe operating 196 aircraft on 552 routes, across 30 countries. In July its 200th Airbus arrived.

EasyJet has announced the first destinations to be served from its newest base at London/Southend will be Amsterdam, Alicante, Barcelona, Belfast, Faro, Ibiza, Malaga and Mallorca. All operations to start in April 2012.
EDELWEISS AIR Edelweiss Air has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330-343 aircraft.
EMIRATES AIRLINES Emirates will add a fourth daily flight to London using an Airbus A380. It will commence on 25th March and follows on from the introduction of a third daily flight on 24th January. The move will make Emirates the largest operator of the type to service the UK Airport. The current fifth daily flight is operated by a Boeing 777-300ER.
The airline is set to add another European country to its ever-expanding route network when Denmark will be added in August with flights to Copenhagen using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Copenhagen is the third country to be added in 2011. The first was Basra, Iraq in February and Geneva is next in June.
The Airbus A380 has been introduced on the Dubai to Shanghai/Pudong route replacing one of the B777-300ER aircraft.
ETIHAD AIRWAYS Etihad has signed a partnership with Air Berlin. The combined network increases to 239 destinations across 77 countries.
Etihad Airways are the fastest growing airline in commercial airline history with 58 destinations currently in their system from their base at Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Through using code shares, an additional 47 destinations can now be offered too to allow guests to connect on to another airline, providing a wider choice of flight options.
Virgin Blue and Etihad Airways have established a partnership that will enable its International arm, Virgin Australia, to launch non-stop services to Abu Dhabi in 2011.
Etihad already offer daily services to Melbourne and Sydney and the new agreement will increase the number of flights between the two countries to 27 weekly.

At the World Travel Awards in London, UK in November 2010, the national airline of the UAE, Etihad Airways, was awarded the title of ‘World’s Leading Airline’ (for the second consecutive year). Etihad was also named ‘World’s Leading First Class’ carrier for the third year in a row.

EZNIS AIRWAYS Eznis Airways, Mongolia’s leading domestic airline with the largest network of destinations in the country, is also playing a major role in the development of the country’s burgeoning mining industry by providing vital air-charter services for mining companies into mine sites at remote locations.

FINNAIR Finnair is one of the leading airlines for flights between Europe and Asia. From 9th May 2012 they will fly direct to Chongqing 4 times a week. Situated on the edge of the Tibetan plateau, greater Chongqing has a population of 32million. In addition the urban population is expected to double over the next 5 years. The airport’s growth potential is huge. The airport has already opened 140 routes to more than 80 cities in China and Asia and the airport is undergoing expansion. When complete in 2015, the airport will be capable of receiving 45 million passengers a year.
Finnair offers smooth connections via Helsinki. Finnair flies from London Heathrow and Manchester.
Finnair will start flights to Singapore from May 2011. Majority of Finnair’s Far East Asian flights depart from Helsinki in the afternoon and arrive to the destination in the morning the next day, which allows the travellers to enjoy the destinations attractions already on the arrival day.
Other popular Finnair destinations are Scandinavian cities; Baltic cities and destinations in Finland, such as Helsinki, Rovaniemi, Kittilä and Ivalo.
FIREFLY Firefly – Malaysia’s low-cost subsidiary has started scheduled jet operations with a pair of leased Boeing 737-Q8Qs.
FLYBE Flybe is one of Europe's largest and most successful regional airlines, with 202 routes serving 13 countries, operating from a total of 70 departure points (38 UK and 32 European airports).
FlyDubai is Dubai’s first low-cost airline. They have announced two new destinations as it continues to expand its services. The addition of Kuwait City and Muscat will bring the network to 13 routes and with a double daily service to both cities using the carriers sixth Boeing 737.
Announced in December 2010 they have a new link between Ekaterinburg and Dubai. The twice weekly service will be flown by a Boeing 737-800 with 189 seats. At 5 hours, the flight is one of the longest to be served by the low-cost carrier. Koltsovo International airport will be the carrier’s 23rd destination.
Since writing the above I have been informed that two more destinations have been added, namely Abha in Saudi Arabia and Ashgabat in Turkmenistan making a total of 28 destinations served by FlyDubai.
GABON AIRLINES Is introducing three new destinations, Sao Terme, Douala and Malabo to its network. It is also starting new domestic route from Libreville to Franceville. All flights will be operated by ATR 42s.
GERMANWINGS a budget operator is to open a sixth European base at Hanover in April. It will base three Airbus A319s at the airports to start flights to Barcelona, Bastia, Budapest, Dubrovnik, Heraklion, London, Milan, Moscow, Palma de Mallorca, Rome, Split, Stuttgart, Vienna, Zadar and Zagreb.
GULF AIR Bahrain’s national carrier, Gulf Air, has expanded its African Network by starting services to Nairobi, Kenya. The carrier will be operating an Airbus A320, which will be configured with1 6seats in Falcon Gold and 1230 in Economy.
HANSUNG AIRLINES Which operated its last flight on October 18, 2008 will return to the skies under a new name, T’way Airlines. Hansung was South Korea’s first official low-cost carrier when it was created in August 2005.
T’way’s first service took off on September 15, 2010, five days after taking delivery of Boeing 737-8KG, one of three aircraft ordered from the US Manufacturer. T’way plans to operate domestic routes and include China and Japan and its fleet is to expand to nine aircraft by 2012.
HARBOUR AIR SEAPLANES Harbour Air is a scheduled service, tour and charter airline based in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. The airline specializes in routes between Vancouver, Nanaimo, and Victoria, primarily with de Havilland Canada float planes. Along with West Coast Air, they operate in the Vancouver Harbour Water Aerodrome and Victoria Inner Harbour Airport. On March 31, 2010 Harbour Air announced that it would be acquiring West Coast Air, with completion of the purchase by April 30, 2010
HAWAIIAN AIRLINES Non-stop service to Hawaii from 10 U.S. West Coast cities in addition to New York City.

HONG KONG AIRLINES Took delivery of its first Airbus A330-200 on 15June2010. The airliner features the carriers’ new two-class long haul cabin and will be used to launch services to Europe at the end of June initially flying non-stop to Moscow.
HORIZON Horizon rebranding continues and all aircraft are to be repainted Alaskan Airlines with the Horizon name with the famous Eskimo on the tail.
IBERIA Expanded its Brazilian Operations on 1st February when it launched a new service from Madrid to Fortaleza and Recife with 254 seat Airbus A340-300s. The flights operate 3 times weekly.
ILLYRIAN AIRWAYS Illyrian Airways is a newcomer in the Republic of Kosovo. It started flights from Pristina to Brescia and Treviso in Italy in December 2010, using a leased Boeing 737-300. This, the first Kosovan Airline will fly to Western Europe (Düsseldorf, Liege, Gatwick, Munich) by adding a B737-500 and an Embraer ERJ145 to Italy, Greece and Balkan countries later this year.
INDIGO Private Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo launched its first international flights at the beginning of September with services between New Delhi and Dubai using Airbus A320s. The airline was also planning to start flying to both Bangkok and Singapore later that month. The move comes after the airline had completed five years of domestic service and in accordance with Indian regulations it is now permitted to expand its operations internationally.
ISLES OF SCILLY SKYBUS With a primary route linking the Scilly Isles to the mainland at both Lands End and Newquay, Isles of Scilly Skybus also flies to Bristol and Exeter and opened up a service to St Brieuc in March 2008. The islanders used to fly under the Westward Airways name.
JAZZ Air Canada's regional partner Jazz has signed a letter of intent to purchase 15 Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 Next Gens plus 15 options. The 15 firm aircraft will replace 15 - 50 seater CRJs.
Canadian Regional carrier Jazz Air ha started its flight services agreement with Thomas Cook Canada by operating its first two Boeing 757-200s on routes from Toronto to Montego Bay, Jamaica and Cancun, Mexico.
JETSTAR AIRWAYS The low cost subsidiary of Australia’s Qantas, is planning to launch budget long-haul flights from Singapore to Australia, North Asia and Europe. It anticipates starting services from Singapore’s Changi International Airport before the end of the year and will be using its Airbus A330-200s.
JET2.COM Jet 2 has announced plans to expand its operation from Newcastle for summer 2012. They will add four new routes, Bodrum, Rome, Reus and Venice from 31st May.
Jet2.com will offer flights from Edinburgh to Malaga next summer and has brought forward the departure times of flights to Murcia from three airports to make arrivals more convenient. The carrier will operate between Malaga and Edinburgh on Wednesdays and Saturdays from April 2. This is Jet2.com’s 16th route from the Scottish airport.

KENYA AIRWAYS Kenya Airways continues its project to offer links to every African capital by inaugurating flights to Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, from its base at Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi. The airline has started a twice-weekly Boeing 737-700 service via Benin Capital, Cotonou. The new route increases the carrier’s network to 55 destinations.
KINGFISHER AIRLINES Owned by the United Breweries Group, launched five additional routes at the end of April 2010. These were from Mumbai and New Delhi to Bangkok, New Delhi to Kathmandu, Nepal and from New Delhi and Mumbai to Dubai enabling the carrier to extend its international network to eight destinations.
LUFTHANSA Houston will become sixth U.S. airport to land regularly scheduled service on the Airbus A380, the world's largest commercial passenger aircraft.That will come Aug. 1, 2012 when German carrier Lufthansa says it will start using A380s for its daily service between Frankfurt and Houston Bush Intercontinental. Lufthansa currently uses Boeing 747-400s on that route.
MANX2 Operating niche markets with small regional turboprops, Manx2 is gradually growing its routes and fleet from its Ronaldsway, Isle of Man base. It is the only UK carrier to use the Dornier 228 and Let 410, with the aircraft flown on lease from European carriers. Routes from Ronaldsway now include Belfast City and International, Blackpool, Gloucester, Jersey, Leeds Bradford, Newcastle and Nottingham East Midlands. 2009 was a record year for them too. The company carried 106,924 passengers, a figure that Chairman Noel Hayes described as a “landmark achievement”.

MONARCH AIRLINES With a history going back 40 years, Monarch Airlines is a well known name to many travellers. However, in the last few years, it has moved its emphasis away from Inclusive Tour charters and now flies 60% of its routes as a scheduled carrier. It has four bases – Birmingham, London/Luton, London/Gatwick and Manchester and flies a mix of short, medium and long haul routes.
Monarch Airlines has announced plans to add Paphos in Cyprus to its scheduled route network this summer. Twice weekly flights from Birmingham, London-Gatwick and Manchester will begin in May.
For the whole of 2010, the airline carried 5.8 million passengers.
NORWEGIAN The Nordic budget carrier is to accelerate its fleet renewal replacing its Classic Boeing 737s with next-Generation models. This is the fleet of the future. Norwegian carried 3.2 million passengers in the second quarter of the year 2010– a 15% growth over the same period last year, earlier than first planned.
OMAN AIR Oman Air has announced the commencement of services between Muscat and Kathmandu from September 2010. Kathmandu is the 40th destination in the Oman Air network and will be operated with a Boeing 737-700 offering Business and Economy cabins.
Muscat to Milan, Italy is the 41st destination for the carrier and the ninth to be launched in 2010. The airline offers four flights a week using an Airbus A330 aircraft.

PEACH Peach Aviation is Japan’s first low cost carrier and ahs taken delivery of its maiden Airbus A320-214. The Osaka based airline will start services on 1st March 2012.
PEGASUS AIRLINES The Pegasus Airlines fleet comprises 22 Boeing 737-800s, three Boeing 737-500s and two Boeing 737-400s, which together with sister airline Izair’s five aircraft, brings the fleet to a total of 32 aircraft.

Starting 02Nov. a new daily service to Entebbe from Doha. By then they will also have 7 flights a day from the UK to Doha also, four from Heathrow, one from Gatwick, two from Manchester. A second daily flight from Manchester to Doha will start on 02Jun.
Sofia, Bulgaria is the latest destination for Qatar Airways. Four flights a week are being operated via Bucharest, with daily service via Budapest.
Qatar now flies to 26 destinations across Europe with a global network spanning over 100 destinations worldwide.
The expansion continues next month with the launch of flights to Oslo. By 2013 the airline plans to serve more than 120 key business and leisure destinations worldwide with a fleet of over 120 aircraft.
ROSSIYA AIRLINES Rossiya Airlines continues to expand its Antonov An-148-100V after welcoming its sixth aircraft into service. They have also received their sixth Airbus A320 and now have a fleet of 15 Airbus aircraft including nine A319’s.
RWANDA AIR Out of Kigali, the capital of Rwanda the airline started flying to Brazzaville using Bombardier RJ200 aircraft.
RYANAIR Irish no-frills carrier Ryanair has confirmed that it will establish its 48th base in the Danish City of Billund. The airline will use two aircraft to operate 19 routes and expect to carry around 800,000 passengers each year.
Ryanair celebrated carrying its four millionth passenger at Edinburgh Airport on 15th March 2011.

SKYMARK AIRLINES Japan’s third largest Airline has placed orders for two more A380s, bringing its total to six. The Japanese Company plans to start International routes between Tokyo/Narita and Europe and the USA
SKY WORK Sky Work was founded in 1983 and is one of the oldest airlines in Switzerland. Initially specializing in ad-hoc, business and charter flights, Sky Work added five scheduled flights to its route network last year. A further seven scheduled flights will be added to the winter schedule for 2011/12. The fleet consists of two Dornier 328s and one Dash 8 Q400. Three further airplanes will be added to the fleet in 2011. Sky Work currently has a workforce of 102 employees.
Skywork has started services to London City Airport using Dornier 328 turboprops seating 31 passengers.
SLOVAKIAN AIRLINES Bratislava base start up carrier Slovakian Airlines has received its first aircraft, Boeing 737-555 and has been named M R Stefanik after the Slovak politician.
SCOOT AIRLINES Singapore Airlines has announced the name of its budget long-haul subsidiary airline. It is planning to start services from Changi Airport to Australia and China from Mid 2012 using Boeing 777-200s.
SOLARIS AIRLINES New Russian Operator Solaris Airlines has been launched from the defunct carrier Vyborg Airlines.
SOLITAIRE AIR New Jordanian carrier Solitaire Air has just taken delivery of its first aircraft, a Boeing 737 formerly flown by Alaskan Airlines.
SOUTH AFRICAN AIRLINES (SAA) SAA is expanding its African routes into the Congo as well as introducing a new International service to China. Pointe Noire in the Congo started on 26th January and Beijing started on 31st January.
Pointe Noire is the 4th new African destination added this financial year and joins Ndola, in Zambia; Kigali in Rwanda and Bujumbura in Burundi.
SAA has become the latest operator of the Airbus A330 with the first of six A330-200s being delivered I February 2011. All are on lease. The aircraft can carry 222 passengers – 36 in Business class and 186 in Economy and features the latest in-flight entertainment. The aircraft will be used primarily on long-haul routes from both Johannesburg and Cape Town.
SPANAIR a Spanish airline was founded in December of 1986. Spanair began operations with its international charter flights at the end of March 1988, carrying tourists to Spain from more than 100 European airports. Since then more than 104* million passengers have flown with Spanair.
Spanish Carrier and Star Alliance member Spanair has advised plans to expand its scheduled network into the UK, selecting Birmingham as its first destination. From May 21, the airline will introduce 4 flights a week from Barcelona and 3 flights a week from Madrid using one of its two-class Airbus A320s.
STRATEGIC AIRLINES Former Australian carrier Strategic Airlines, has revealed its new look and has re-launched as a wholly Australian owned low-cost carrier Air Australia. Initially flying to Bali, Phuket and Honolulu as well as continuing to serve existing routes.
SUN COUNTY US Carrier Sun County is to start a seasonal service from Minneapolis/St Paul to London/Stansted, operating a weekly rotation with a Boeing 737-800 and including a technical stop at Gander, Newfoundland, each way. Leaving the USA on Friday evening, it will stay at Stansted for just over 24 hours before returning.
SUNEXPRESS New Low Cost carrier of Germany has begun operating services from Frankfurt to Antalya and Malatya in Turkey.
SWISS SWISS is Switzerland’s best known airline and serves 73 destinations around the world with its 85- aircraft fleet. SWISS is part of the Lufthansa Group and a member of the global Star Alliance and is known as a quality airline.
SWISS has announced plans to commence services between Zurich and Beijing from February 11, 2012. The capital is the second destination in China to be served by SWISS.
TACA PERU TACA Peru has started passenger services linking Lima, Peru and Miami International Airport. The carrier will operate single daily roundtrip service using an Airbus A320 with capacity for 150 passengers. The airline also offers connections to other destinations such as Buenos Aires and Mendoza (Argentina), Santiago de Chile and Antofagasta (Chile), Asuncion (Paraguay) and Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo (Brazil).
TAM AIRLINES TAM has moved its daily Boeing 777-300ER service from London-Heathrow to Sao Paula to the UK airports Terminal 1. The move is part of TAM’s full integration into the Star Alliance and will facilitate connections with Alliance partners who operate from both Terminal 1 and 3.

TIARA AIR Tiara Air is an airline based in Aruba. Tiara Air has flights to Curacao, Punto Fijo, Bonaire and Riohacha. The airline is operating three Shorts 360 twin-engine turboprop aircraft built in 1983 that came from PCA (Pacific Coastal Airlines) in Canada and it is understood there are plans to upgrade its fleet with regional jets. The airline is currently based at Queen Beatrix International Airport. Alejandro Muyale, the director, named the airline after his daughter Tiara Muyale. The word "tiara" is derived from Latin, meaning "crown".
TIGER AIRWAYS Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has grounded Tiger Airways Australia’s fleet because “it lost confidence in the airlines ability to manage its safety and permitting it to continue to fly posed a serious and immediate risk to air safety”.
The grounding came into affect on July 2 and was initially expected to last just a week. However, almost a month later the carrier has not returned to the air.
TRANSAVIA.COM Transavia.com was founded in late 1965 by a Belgian and a Scottish private person under the name of Transavia Limburg N.V. with Maastricht Aachen Airport as its home base.
On 14 November 1966 it was awarded a charter License to fly from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The first commercial flight took place on 16 November of that same year under the new name of Transavia Holland. In 1991, the year of Transavia's 25th anniversary, it became a subsidiary of KLM.
TRANSAERO AIRLINES Transaero has launched the first direct service between Moscow-Domodedovo and the Ukrainian capital, Vilnius. The carrier will operate 4 times weekly using a Boeing 737-500 in a four class layout.
Transaero and Air Baltic have launched flights on the Moscow-Domodedovo to Riga route on a code-share agreement. Transaero are planning to purchase 4 Boeing 777s during 2011. The -300 variants will become the first of its type to join Transaero and can carry up to 373 passengers in a four class configuration.
Transaero fleet expands to 60 following delivery of a Boeing 747-400 – it’s 15th such aircraft. The whole fleet currently comprises 15 B747s, 8 B777s, 12 B767s, 22 B737s and 3 Tupolev Tu-214s.
TURKISH AIRLINES has signed a firm order for 20 Airbus A320 family models, comprising a mix of A319 and A321s. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery from 2011 onwards and will be used for expansion of domestic and regional routes.
UKRAINE INTERNATIONAL Ukraine International has made significant headway in the Russian market after commencing a three-time daily service between Kiev/Borispol Airport and Moscow/Domodedovo. The Ukrainian carrier will operate two of the services in its own right using Boeing 737s while the third flight will be flown by new code-share partner S7 Airlines.
URAL AIRLINES the Russian Carrier has added two additional Airbus A320s to its fleet on lease from GECAS. The carrier now operates eleven A320s and two A321s and is due to receive additional examples later in the year. New connections to Tajikistan have been announced linking Barnaul and Ufa with Dushanbe and Ufa and Samara with Khujand. The Ekaterinburg based carrier has already witnessed a strong beginning to the current year reporting a 39% increase in traffic during the first three months of the year.
V AUSTRALIA is the International Airlines of Virgin Blue and services Los Angeles from Sydney and Brisbane and from 15th Sep 2009 Melbourne will come on line on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays*
V Australia launched its maiden Sydney to Abu Dhabi service in February using Boeing 777-300ERs and has become the first Australian carrier to serve the Middle East destination in 20 years.
VELVET SKY South Africa has a new airline, the only one to be based in urban and started flying between Durban and Johannesburg with onwards services to Cape Town. Using B737 -300s for now and when additional aircraft arrive, services between Durban and Cape Town direct will start
VIETNAM AIRLINES The airline has started direct flights from London Gatwick North Terminal to Vietnam. They will operate 4 flights a week, 2 to Hanoi and 2 to Ho Chi Minh City using Boeing 777-200ERs configured with Economy, Economy Deluxe and Business Class cabins.
VIRGIN AMERICA The Low-Cost carrier has announced that it will add nine Airbus A320s bringing its fleet to 37. The additions will enable the carrier to launch new daily flights to Orlando from Los Angeles and San Francisco on August 19. A new service is planned from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Toronto-Pearson. This will be the first international route for the airline.
Virgin America started operations in August 2007, after years in the planning process. Sir Richard Branson's UK based Virgin Group has a 25% minority shareholding, with the airline deemed to be a US owned and controlled airline. It is based in San Francisco. While not a particularly 'low fare' discount airline, it is a 'full service' airline with excellent service, on-board entertainment system, and positive friendly staff.
The airline is to inaugurate a five times weekly service from San Francisco to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico from 02 December 2011. The airline already has services to Cancun from Los Angeles and to Cancun and San Jose del Cabo from San Francisco. In 2010, Puerto Vallarta was named one of the best destinations in Mexico and over 3 million travellers visit annually.
VIRGIN ATLANTIC is the UK's second largest long haul airline, with a route network spanning 30 exciting destinations, covering the US, Caribbean, Africa, Asia and Australia.

Etihad already offer daily services to Melbourne and Sydney and the new agreement will increase the number of flights between the two countries to 27 weekly.
Virgin Blue rebrands and plans to drop the BLUE in its name.
VUELING Spanish Low-Cost operator Vueling is to open a base at Toulouse’s Blagnac Airport in the south of France in late April 2011, its eighth base and first outside Spain.
The Barcelona headquarters airline will position a single Airbus A320 in Toulouse to launch flights to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Ibiza, Malaga, Paris, Pisa and Venice and further growth is expected beyond next year’s summer season.
The Spanish Carrier plans to end 2011 with nine new aircraft, representing an investment of over E100 million and taking its total fleet to 42. Six of the Airbus A320s will be added between April and June, with a further three, including one A319, coming on line before the end of the year.
WESTJET’s World of Destinations By the end of 2010; Westjet operated services to 71 destinations across North America and the Caribbean in 13 countries.

New service is announced from Hamilton, Canada direct to Las Vegas, Nevada to start in September 2011, with Boeing 737-700s with a capacity of 136 passengers.
WILDEROE Widerøe is the largest regional airline in Scandinavia, with a staff of 1,300 and a turnover of NOK 2.5 billion. The company carries around 2 million passengers annually and flies to 40 domestic and 7 international destinations, including summer routes.
Widerøe has more than 380 take-offs and landings every day and operates into more than twice as many airports in Norway than any other airline. Today our network consists of 60% commercial routes, and 40% PSO routes (Public Services Obligations).
WIZZ AIR Wizz Air plans to start eleven new routes from Eastern European airports this summer, according to CEO Josef Varadi. The airline will fly from the Polish cities of Gdansk to Stavanger, Gothenburg and Aarhus and from Poznan to Barcelona. The carrier will also launch services from Romania’s capital Bucharest to Bari and Alicante and from regional airports Cluj/Napoca and Tirgu/Mures to Larnaca and London/Luton respectively.
Furthermore, flights will be introduced from Barcelona to Brussels/Charleroi and Gothenburg/City and from Brno to Rome. All start in late March and will be operated twice or three times a week.
The latest news too is that the airline is switching all services in Kiev from Borispol Airport to Zhulyany. This was accomplished late March 2011. Zhulyany is 5miles/8kms from the city centre.
YEMENIA Sana’a based airline Yemenia has taken delivery of its first Airbus aircraft. It is the first of 10 A320s on order.
